Somewhere in Scotland, we visited the Anonymous Cat Ladies, and it took a whole lot of convincing for them to tell their story. Dressed in pink coats and matching cat-eared hats, they sat serenely in their armchairs, each of them cradling a blissfully contented cat, mostly white in colour. These women firmly believe they are cats trapped in human bodies, and their beloved pets are revered as holy spirits. Mrs. Whiskers, the group's soft-spoken leader, insists that her cat, Sir Pawsalot, channels the wisdom of an ancient feline deity. As we listened to their whimsical tales, the Cat Ladies shared their feline-inspired rituals, pausing only to purr in unison and occasionally bat at imaginary strings. Their dedication to their feline personas and the reverence for their furry companions turned our visit into a delightful exploration of their unique, cat-centric world.
