I See You

This series was born from a deeply touching encounter that left a lasting impact on me. I vividly recall the moment I spontaniously complimented a woman, around 80 years old, on her beauty, and witnessed the profound effect it had on her. Unexpectedly, tears welled up in her eyes as she stood there in the middle of the street. It saddened me to learn that such kind words had been absent from her life for far too long.

This powerful experience compelled me to reflect upon a society that often overlooks and neglects women once they have fulfilled certain societal roles—as mothers, beauty queens, or whatever else is expected of them. It stirred within me a deep sense of empathy and a yearning to challenge the status quo.

With this series, I seek to capture the essence and celebrate the extraordinary beauty of elderly women who are often forgotten by mainstream standards. It is a visual testament to the resilience, grace, and wisdom that accompanies the passing years. Each portrait is an homage to these incredible women, an affirmation that their worth and beauty are timeless and deserving of recognition.

By showcasing the diverse heritages and unique stories of these women, I aim to ignite conversations about ageism, challenge preconceived notions, and create a space where their voices can be heard and their presence cherished. Through these photographs, I hope to inspire a shift in societal perspectives and a reevaluation of the value we place on women at all stages of life.

Ultimately, this series is an act of love and a declaration that every woman, regardless of age, deserves to be seen, appreciated, and celebrated for the indomitable spirit and beauty she possesses.
